Are you an Irish Twitterer?
by Sean Smyth on May.20, 2009, under Cool Links, Random Stuff, Reviews, Websites
And do you lack an iPhone or one of those new fandangled phones that do everything? Fear not for this will interest you.. Enter: Ag Tweet.
This service is cool. It allows you to send a SMS or text message to an Irish number and that, in turn, updates your Twitter’s feed. If you have free texts then this won’t even cost you a dime.
It’s better than forking out for the English Number and it literally takes 20 seconds to set up (including putting the number in your phone)
And for those a bit weary, there is more info here and just to prove it actually works;
Have fun and happy Tweeting
ScribeFire

I dunno if people know or not but there is a really cool Firefox add-on available which makes blogging and absolute cinch. It’s called ScribeFire and it’s home is on the bottom bar of the Firefox window. Simply click it to bring up a window and then you can simply drag images, text and link from a site that you are currently viewing to the ScribeFire window. It just makes adding images and stuff so easy.

Some Websites I’ve made
by Sean Smyth on Feb.06, 2009, under College, Random Stuff, Reviews, Websites
It’s a slow night. I’m bored and I’m half watching The Late Late Show (oh noes!). I’ve made a few web pages and sites over the past year or so just to practice and I find it somewhat fun to make ‘em and so I’ve decided to share them will you. Now, I’m well aware that they aren’t fantastic but sure feck it, why not?
DKIT Campus
This was the first website I ever made. It was an assignment in my first year in college and we were only taught to use tables for laying out so yeah, it’s kinda crummy. Link.
DKITv
This was my second website ever and this was a final project for a Web Authoring class in first year of college. Again, we still hadn’t moved on to table-less layouts just yet. I’m actually quiet happy with how this turned out surprisingly although the nav bar could be better in that it currently has no alternate text. Anywho…. Link.
Sausage Batter
This one was just something I did after watching a PSD to HTML video on NETTUTS and was inspired to give it a whirl myself. CSS for layout this time but it’s a bit dodge and only displays properly in Firefox or Flock or some variation of Mozilla’s Firefox. Link.
Orange Jooce
I made this one after watching the second video on NETTUTS. Again, it only displays properly in Firefox or a variation thereof. I must sort out my CSS skills so other Browsers don’t get confused…. Link.
Any comments or anything?
JSMS - Text client for Mac OS
by Sean Smyth on Sep.27, 2008, under Cool Links, Reviews, Websites
I came across a cool application (Mac only) that allows the user to send SMS messages directly from the desktop. It’s called JSMS.
It uses the same login as your respective Vodafone, Meteor or O2 webtext services so the receiver still knows who the text is from. You also have the ability to import all your contacts from the website so that makes the transition even easier.
As far as I know, there are other programs available for Windows that do the same job. Cabbage being one such program. Don’t ask me whether or not it’s good though
It’s just cool and handy and much easier to use than the clumsy and slow Vodafone website.
Kings of Leon = Excitement
by Sean Smyth on Sep.26, 2008, under Random Stuff, Reviews
I’m heading to see the Kings of Leon in the O2 Arena on the 19th of December. Wahoo! is the only word to describe it. I can’t wait because I’ve already seen them at Oxegen and they were amazing to say the least.
Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody
I “obtained” their new album there yesterday and I’ve listened to it twice so far. I love everything up to the song “17″ which, unfortunately, is kinda annoying and feels like it will go on forever. Everything after that is just isn’t that great compared to the first half of the album. I’ve only listened to it twice so it might grow on me in the future.
Still, I can’t wait to see them live in December..
300
by Sean Smyth on May.11, 2008, under Reviews
I watched 300 last night for the first time after meaning to watch it for ages. It was surprisingly good. Better than expected anyway. I tried to ignore all the reviews and hype about it when it was first released so I honestly didn’t know what to expect beyond seeing some scantly clad men slashing stuff. I was right in relation to both of the afore mentioned.
The story was, again, better than I imagined it would be. I thought it would just be a hack and slash affair. It was, but there was more tacked on aswell. I don’t mean tacked on in a bad way either.

“This is A GREEN SCRE…. oh, SPARTA!”
I have to say that I was fairly impressed by the whole - shot against a green screen - thing. It worked BUT there was never a moment when I forgot about that fact. It didn’t take anything away from the film but I think that maybe they could have made it more believeble somehow. Seeing as the went to all that trouble, I think the could have made it blend in better or something. Meh, I dunno what I’m talking about really so I’ll just stop

“This is a green screen. Interesting……..”
So yeah, well worth a watch. 8/10
