Irish School of Motoring Advert

I was asked to do a 30 second animation for some PR students and I whipped this up fairly quickly. It was my first time doing anything in After Effects and the audio and low resolution images were what was given to me.

I learned some pretty cool things about After Effects from doing this though and hopefully I can just keep improving on them.

After Effects - Something I really should to get into

by Sean Smyth on Feb.24, 2010, under College, Cool Links, Websites

I was at a lecture from Mark Swaine the Creative Director of Squire today which proved to be an excellent and informative class.

One thing I came away with though was a feeling that I should really delve into AfterEffects a lot more. I’ve messed around with it but Mark says that he loves using Flash and AfterEffects and, although it might sound a bit stupid, that was a combination I can’t say I’ve ever thought of using before.

He showed us how they can be combined to make some truly dazzling websites and videos. Granted, these companies have big budgets and years of experience under their belts but this stuff is just awesome.

Kinetic Typography. I really can’t get enough of this stuff. It really is wonderful to watch and it’s really is just so impressive what can be done with just text. Here is a collection of some of the best ones I’ve come across over the past 2 weeks or so.

And this guy combines the typography with real footage to really cool effect.

This dude is kind enough to explain how it’s done.

And here is another Tutorial over at AE Tuts aswell that I was made aware of thanks to Sean O’ Grady

Anyone have any better ones to show off or link to? I’m gonna try my hand at this over the summer. It can’t be that hard, riiiiiight? :P
