BOT: Final Project

Posted by Sean Smyth on 21 Sep 2011 / 0 Comment

BOT from Padraig Birch on Vimeo.

This is a highlights reel of my team’s college final year project, BOT. We got a 1.1 for the project overall.

BOT is a platform/puzzle hybrid game, and the central part of a larger project which spans several platforms.

Tin lives on earth in the year 2112, one hundred years after the extinction of mankind in a city now inhabited by robots. He wakes up one day to find that he is different, he feels different, and after a couple of chance meetings he finds out that he is not alone.

Big Bad Bon Voyage – Poster Design

Posted by Sean Smyth on 21 Jun 2011 / 0 Comment

A poster that I designed for a few people who are leaving where I work and heading to Oz. The “big bad” bit is a bit of an in joke. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out when it was a bit of a last minute thing.

Music Department Flyer

Posted by Sean Smyth on 04 Nov 2010 / 0 Comment

A promotional/information flyer that I created for the music department at Dundalk IT. Though it went through a fair few revisions and tweaks, I’m happy enough with how it turned out. It’s a double sided A4 page that’s folded in 3 sections.

A Portable media player UI

Posted by Sean Smyth on 04 Nov 2010 / 0 Comment

We were asked to physically design a portable media player for a Human Computer Interactions module in the Creative Media course.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos of the physical finished product, I can show you the walk through of how the player works on screen.

A book on Designers that I made

Posted by Sean Smyth on 03 Nov 2010 / 0 Comment

Below are some images that I designed for a book I made last year. The book’s content was to cover some of the designers that we studied in the theory aspect of the module. The style I used was supposed to emulate the syle of the original artist and I think I’ve achieved that.

My Grandfather: Photo Mosaic

Posted by Sean Smyth on 03 Nov 2010 / 0 Comment

A college project that I did for a “Digital Visualisation and Design” module in college. I decided to take a photo of my grandfather made up using lots of things that reminded me of him. I asked my mother questions about him like past employment and what he liked to do in his free time.

I’m making a book!

Posted by Sean Smyth on 17 Nov 2009 / 0 Comment

Well, two actually. Firstly, I’m making a book of designers from various “isms” such as constructivism, futurism, dadaism, pictorial modernism etc.

I’ve decided to make the front and back cover out of metal (much like the Futurist’s manifesto) but maybe mix it up with some other “ism” just to add some more interest.

I’ve to design the inside pages as well which will be equally important. It’ll be tough to keep a consistency between so many different styles of artistry.

Secondly, I’m making a children’s book. I’m much less certain about this at the moment as the designer book is due first and so it’s on my mind the most.

I’m interested in a tactile book and maybe something “make and do” but I really have so set myself a target age group before I can start designing and this will also limit what I can actually do.

Enough for now, I’ll post photos when it’s done.

Beautiful Design – New Wallpaper

Posted by Sean Smyth on 06 Jul 2009 / 1 Comment

I’ve made a new wallpaper for myself in photoshop. Unfortunately it’s only currently available in 1280 x 800.

Feel free to download and use it yourself and as always, criticism and critique are welcomed.
