Foster the People @ The Olympia

Posted by Sean Smyth on 29 Nov 2011 / 2 Comments

I was so excited to be shooting these guys. They are one of my favourite bands at the moment and after living up to all the hype at their Electric Picnic set, this was going to be great!

And it was… A particular highlight was the extended version of “Pumped up Kicks”. Super gig!

Below are my photos from the night. What do you think of them?

The Antlers @ The Academy

Posted by Sean Smyth on 20 Nov 2011 / 3 Comments

I shot The Antlers in the Academy on the 17/11/11. Extremely dark gig and it was very difficult gig to shoot. I came away with some great images though which, being honest, I’m a little surprised with.

DkIT Performing Arts PR Photoshoot

Posted by Sean Smyth on 16 Nov 2011 / 0 Comment

For this shoot, the client wanted photos that could be attached to a press release to promote the play that the DkIT Performing Arts Group are doing this year. At this stage, they didn’t have costumes and a set and all that good stuff but I think that most of the photos came out really well and could be used with the press release. The client is happy with them and I think the press releases are going out shortly and I can’t wait to see them being used!

Wild Colonial Bhoys @ The Arlington Hotel, Dublin

Posted by Sean Smyth on 15 Nov 2011 / 0 Comment

I met the Wild Colonial Bhoys over at the Irish Fair of Minnesota when I was on my internship and they also allowed me to use one of their songs in the promo video I made for the Fair. The lads do a tour of Ireland every year and they invite their fans from America to come along with them. Which meant I got to meet some of the friends I made over in America again which was great!

The gig was in the Arlington Hotel and the lighting was a bit crap but it was great to meet everyone again and now I’ve to plan my trip back to America to see them soon!

Ellen Eve is a singer from Limerick who currently studies Music in Dundalk IT.

She asked me to do a photoshoot with her so she can use the photos to promote herself online and for future gigs.

I’m very happy with the outcome and she has told me that she’s delighted with them aswell.

Throwing Muses @ The Academy

I shot Throwing Muses in the Academy the other night for Goldenplec. The lighting was a bit dull and flat unfortunately but it was a good night apart from that.

Patrick Wolf @ The Academy

Posted by Sean Smyth on 25 Oct 2011 / 2 Comments

I was taking photos of Patrick Wolf in the Academy, in the incredibly soggy Dublin. It was really really great and I would have loved to be able to shoot beyond the 3 songs for this one. He started to play the harp just as we were leaving the pit and he did some costume changes later in the show. Ah well, maybe next time! :)

Let me know what you think!

Support from CocknBullKid. Shot for GoldenPlec.

David Lynn Photoshoot

Posted by Sean Smyth on 26 Sep 2011 / 0 Comment

I did a photoshoot with David Lynn a tenor based in Dundalk, Co. Louth last week. He wanted black and white head shots but I gave him the colours ones aswell just incase he later decides that he prefers them. I’m happy with them and, more importantly, David is too.
